The case for actually celebrating the 12 days of Christmas | The Post

Once upon a time, someone wrote that their true love sent to them 12 drummers drumming.

On the face of it, the carol The Twelve Days of Christmas is about frivolous, over-the-top gift-giving – I mean, do they really need five gold rings?! – but in truth I think it points to what I think is a meaningful tradition of restful celebration, one that is still being celebrated overseas, and, I believe, could still be being celebrated by us here too.
